Prof. Gopal Raman Sharma is a special Nepalese Neurosurgeon as well as academic at Department of surgery, National Academy of Medical Sciences  Bir Hospital, Kathmandu and Asian nation Medical college, Jorpati, Kathmandu. He has been appointed as a Co-ordinator of MCh schedule of Neurosurgery at  National Academy of Medical Sciences, Bir Hospital, Kathmandu, Nepal. He is a senior consultant doctor at Dirghayu Guru Hospital & centre Pvt Ltd, Mitrapark , Chabahil. Dr. Sharma graduated in medicine and surgery from residential of medication (IOM),TUTH, Kathmandu, Nepal in 1990. In 1991, he joined Nepal government job and worked in rural districts for a pair of years,He went to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC), Karachi, Pakistan and  he was complete his neurosurgical residency In 2000, he was  awarded with Master Degree (MS) in Neurosurgery by metropolis University, Pakistan. After that, he returned back to Asian nation and started active surgery at Department of surgery,NAMS, Bir Hospital. He did fellowship in neurovascular surgery by Kurume University, Japan in 2010. In 2013, he completed Neurovascular traning at section of Neurosurgery, Helsinki University , Finland. This year, in 2014, he has been awarded with Fellowship (FICS) in Neurosurgery from International college of Surgeons, USA.

Dr. Sharma has been actively involved in clinical as well as tutorial activities. His area of interest is neurovascular and bone base surgery. He has performed more than 4600 neurosurgical progenitor successfully till to the present date. He has already carried out over 268 microsurgical clipping of cerebral aneurysms and over 27 cerebral AVM excision with fantastic results.

Dr. Sharma has attended over 57 national and international neurosurgical conferences and conferred a heap of than sixty eight scientific papers. He has delivered 10 guest lectures on cerebral vas unwellness surgery and chaired many scientific sessions.

Dr. Sharma has already published a mound of  more than forty articles in national and international neurosurgical journals.

Dr. Sharma is Society of Surgeons of Nepal (SSN) ,a life member of Nepal Medical Association (NMA), Founder and life member of Nepalese Society of Neurosurgeons (NESON), Member of World Federation of Neurosurgeons (WFNS), Member of European Neurosurgical Society (EANS), Member of Society of British Neurological Surgeons (SBNS) and Member of yank Association of Neurosurgical Society (AANS).

Dr. Sharma is currently appointed as President of Nepalese Society of Neurosurgeons (NESON), and General Secretary of  South Asian Association of Neurosurgical Society (SAANS).
